MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA: MARCH 24, 2026: Over 180 tertiary and secondary students from western Jamaica, and three institutions were recently awarded grants totalling J$30 million during the MBJ Foundation Charity Run/Walk Grant Awards Ceremony themed “Destiny Helpers” on March 17 at the Sangster International Airport Departures Terminal. The event was the culmination of the 2025 MBJ Charity Run/Walk held last September.

MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA: OCTOBER 31, 2025 – 3:00 PM: MBJ Airports Limited (MBJ), operators of Sangster International Airport, advises that while normal operations remain suspended, preparations are underway to resume limited flight operations on Saturday, November 1 at 7:00AM, to facilitate Commercial Operations.


MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA: NOVEMBER 2, 2025: With limited commercial flight operations resuming yesterday, Saturday, November 1, 2025, MBJ Airports Limited (MBJ), operators of Sangster International Airport (SIA), has announced that it is waiving all landing and parking fees for non-commercial relief flights bringing cargo and medical personnel into SIA, effective from October 30, 2025. The waiver will remain in effect through the duration of relief and recovery operations as Jamaica works to return to normalcy.


MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA: OCTOBER 26, 2025 - 2:00 PM: MBJ Airports Limited (MBJ), operators of the Sangster International Airport (SIA), advises that the airport is now closed to ensure safety during the passage of Hurricane Melissa. Passengers are advised not to come to the airport during the closure. Following the passage of the hurricane, a comprehensive assessment of the airport will be conducted to determine when it is safe to resume operations. Updates will be communicated promptly. When the airport reopens, passengers are asked to confirm their flight status with their airlines before travelling to the airport.


Following the media release yesterday indicating additional flights and cancellations, and with the airport operating until midday, please see below further updated changes to flight operations with flights departing from MBJ prior to 12 noon today, October 26, and cancellations over the next few days.


MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA: OCTOBER 25, 2025 - 5:30 PM: MBJ Airports Limited (MBJ), operators of the Sangster International Airport (SIA), advises that subject to weather conditions, the airport will remain open up to 12:00 PM tomorrow to accommodate flight operations. The airport will then temporarily close at 12:00 PM to ensure safety during the storm’s passage. Some airlines are adjusting their schedules to facilitate earlier/additional flights. Passengers are urged to contact their airlines directly for details on changes to schedule operations and to adjust their reservations as necessary and confirm their flight status before travelling to the airport.


Flight Cancellations and Extra Sections due to Tropical Storm Melissa


A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Jamaica. Based on the bulletin released by the Meteorological Service of Jamaica on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., which details the predicted path of Tropical Storm Melissa, Sangster International Airport (SIA) remains open and operating normally at this time.

SALT LAKE CITY (September 25, 2025) – Breeze Airways, the premium leisure carrier providing affordable, direct flights from underserved markets, today announced it has been certified by the FAA as a U.S. Flag Carrier, making it the first airline in more than 10 years to undergo this rigorous evaluation process. MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA – 11 January 2025: Due to the Winter storm affecting some areas in the Unites States, some flight operations have been cancelled or delayed.


In a recent demonstration of the transformative power of education and community support, MBJ Airports Limited distributed $22 million in grants to 150 students and six institutions across Western Jamaica and St. Elizabeth, impacting the lives of over 1,000 students. The fourth annual MBJ Charity Run Awards Ceremony, held in Montego Bay, brought together recipients, sponsors, and community leaders to celebrate and gift the recipients as the award-winning airport operator again delivered on its commitment to supporting the educational pursuits of students in the region.


Sangster International Airport, operated by MBJ Airports Limited (MBJ) marked a significant expansion of its international routes with the return of LATAM Airlines Peru, connecting Jamaica with direct non-stop service to Lima, Peru. The inaugural flight touched down at 4:38 PM on Sunday, December 1, 2024 with a full complement of 151 passengers aboard an A320 aircraft, signalling a strong demand for the route. The service, operating three times weekly on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, represents a crucial link between Jamaica and South America, offering connections to major destinations including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay through LATAM's extensive network.
